Weekend Trips can be tricky. How much do I pack? Did I pack enough? What activities will I be doing? These are all questions that come up when we’re trying to pack for that quick weekend trip. Since, this can be frustrating, we decided to gather up some of our favorite items for packing exactly what you need for a quick trip.
First and foremost, you need the right luggage. Finding the right travel bag can be a struggle. It’s important to find a bag that is large enough to carry everything, but yet is light enough to carry to and from hotels, cars, airports etc. We’re big fans of The Rambler from Bradley Mountain for those weekend trips. If you’re looking for something with a slightly more refined look, check out The Clark duffle from Ernest Alexander. The key with any good bag is durability. You need to be able to throw it in an overhead compartment or in the back of cab and not worry about it. We prefer duffles cause they’re large enough to carry everything you need, yet are durable against wear and tear and easy to grab on your way out the door.
For all those toiletry items? Get yourself a dopp kit, guys. The days of carrying around Ziploc bags with your products in it are over. The dopp kit keeps everything nice and tidy and looks great sitting next to the bathroom sink. Obviously, make sure you have the essentials; toothbrush, body wash, shampoo, face wash, deodorant and a good cologne.
Now that you have your bag situation and toiletries sorted out, let’s get down to the other items you’ll need.
Our first go-to clothing item? The oxford. Dress it up for a nice dinner with friends in the city or leave it untucked and unbuttoned for a day of sightseeing. It’s our vacation must-have.
Next? Jeans. Not a lot of explanation needed here. Perfect for just about anything. Casual hang out with friends or a nice dinner.
Night time hikes? Conversations on the back porch with friends? Sometimes it can get a little cooler, so we like to pack some sort of layering piece like a sweater, sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt for those times the temperature starts to drop.
A vacation must-have. No explanation needed here.
Comfortable shoes. This tends to be the area people go wrong in. Make sure you pack for the occasion. If you’re walking around the city all weekend, those new leather boots aren’t going to cut it. Reach for a sneaker and you’ll thank us at the end of the day.
We also recommend a few of your favorite tees, plenty of socks and underwear, and don’t forget the infamous cell phone charger. You don’t want to have to pay $75 for a new one at the Best Buy kiosk when your plane lands.
And there you go. A few of our favorite tips for your upcoming weekend trip.
