The Spicy Mezcalita

The Margarita is arguably the most quintessential summertime cocktail, but it can easily run the risk of being too tart. Enter the Spicy Mezcalita. Add some Mezcal to this classic recipe and you’ve got the ultimate triple threat on your hands with equal parts spicy, smoky and sweet.

Combine the Tequila, Mezcal, Cointreau, Lime juice and 2 Jalapeño slices in your shaker. Add ice and shake for 15 seconds, strain and divide into two glasses. Garnish with lime and jalapeño slices.

p.s.- Unless you’re up for a challenge, we recommend removing the seeds from the jalapeños you use as a garnish. They can pack quite a punch.

  • 3 oz Tequila
  • 1.5 oz Mezcal
  • 2 oz Cointreau
  • 2 oz fresh Lime juice
  • 2 slices fresh Jalapeño
  • 2 slices Jalapeño & 2 slices of fresh Lime to garnish
  • Salt for rim
  • Ice
